Like everyone else, sometimes I feel like we live in a confused society.

And then we fly around the moon. As the astronauts said themselves, to see how the Earth sits in space with all the other planets. How awesome to see what God has done.

That isn’t even heaven. We are still in our orbit. Isn’t it good that we can’t reach that far? We can’t contaminate our home that is waiting for us. Yes, we need to be great commission Christians here until our home is complete for us to move in. Jesus said that it would be at that point God would call us home.

And to think we have “snowbirds” in Arizona who come and go, hopefully from one desirable climate to the other. Their family waiting for them to return to their other home. But we won’t have to be “snowbirds.” We go only one way, and that way is with Jesus.

To think, I won’t even have to dust the shelves or sweep the floor there. Being the floors will be pure gold. Here we have to invest and save our pennies to buy gold that isn’t even as pure as the gold we will walk on. What an investment we have. It’s all ours not because of the work we have done or the money we have accumulated but simply by accepting Jesus as our Savior.

And how amazing, we are actually a predestined people when we accept Jesus as our Savior. Reason? God, who is all-knowing, knew that we would come to Him.

Our salvation can’t be a reward for the good we do because if it was, we could brag about our good works (don’t say you wouldn’t) to everyone. That it was our accomplishment that got us that far. It is only by God’s mercy and that Jesus died for all our sins. Not only that, even Satan knows that, but with our repentance from sin, we will stand with the redeemed.

We can’t just come to God and say, “I believe Jesus gave His life for me” (and He did) then go on living in our sin. Without repentance, there is no salvation. Sounds kind of harsh, doesn’t it?

Surely Christ died for the forgiveness of the sins of the entire world. The whole reason Christ had to die was because God cannot even look at unforgiven sin.  Despite that, His love for us was so unfathomable that He sent His one and only Son to bear our sins.

Yet, unless we repent, there can be no forgiveness of sins for us. Salvation is not because we are a deserving people. Only because of God’s love. That unfathomable love. Besides, God must get all the glory for what He has done. In that respect, He is a jealous God. He doesn’t share that glory with anyone of us.

What an awesome God we serve and have.
